MARCUS WAREING’S CHICKEN WITH A CREAMY MUSHROOM SAUCE
March 2, 2026January is the perfect time for fresh starts and meaningful resolutions. If you’re looking for a way to give back this new year, why not volunteer with Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care?
Volunteering with a hospice charity may conjure up images of holding hands or making cups of tea. While these roles are vital, there’s much more involved than you might realise. Rennie Grove Peace offers over 100 volunteer roles, from supporting patients and families to working in retail, online selling, or head office functions. There really is something to suit everyone’s interests, skills, and availability.
The charity’s retail and trading department generates around 41% of total fundraising income each year. Its 32 High Street shops rely on volunteer shop assistants to keep shelves stocked and tills ringing seven days a week.
Ann, who volunteers in the Rennie Grove Peace Fleetville shop, says ‘I love the interaction with customers’ and hearing firsthand how much the charity’s care means to local families, adding that it makes her proud to support hospice work.
Dawn volunteers with the online selling team, listing items on eBay and Vinted. She says she enjoys the teamwork and knowing her contribution helps people in difficult circumstances, particularly after seeing the charity’s care support her own family.
Rachel Turvey, Volunteering Development Advisor, explains: “Our volunteers outnumber staff by nearly 5:1. Every role makes a real difference to the care we can provide.”
