KOP HILL CLIMB NEWS.

Following all the frustrations and disappointments of 2020, the organisers of KHC have announced that they will be pressing ahead with a full event on the weekend of September 25/26 this year.

This decision has been taken in the light of the remarkable success of the national vaccination programme, the fact that the event is still many weeks in the future and a record rate of entries for the hill run.

KHC did hold a virtual event in September last year, which raised over £15,000 for its local charities. The KHC volunteers were recognised last year by having a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service bestowed upon them.  Given Covid restrictions, the ceremony couldn’t take place until May 25, 2021, but the presentation took place at Penn House where The Countess Howe, the recently-appointed new Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, made the Award to Nick Jeffery, the Chief Steward. In her address, The Countess Howe stressed both the longevity of the event and the dedication of the volunteers to a cause which has to date raised over £750,000 for local charities and good causes.

KHC was also fortunate enough to be one of the features in an episode of the new series of Great British Railway Journeys, featuring Michael Portillo. It was filmed in Autumn 2020 and broadcast on BBC2 on April 27, but is still available on BBC iPlayer.

Early Bird tickets for the event are now on sale at www.kophillclimb.org.uk
