Chiltern Arts

Imagine entering a darkened church. Shimmering golden-green lights illuminate pillars and windows and quiet forest sounds bring the world around them to life. The place is imbued with magic, and it feels as though one has stepped into another world entirely.

A concert experience like no other, and unforgettable performances from some of the UK’s top musicians, often interwoven with spoken poetry and readings. From April look out for our friendly fairies nestling in towns around the Chilterns, accompanied by some of the winning entries from our 2022 Poetry Competition. And from 14th–21st May, immerse yourself in a week of glorious music across the area, including concerts in Henley, Marlow, Great Missenden, Princes Risborough, Hughenden, High Wycombe, Wendover, Amersham and Berkhamsted.

Over the week in May, you can hear the Albion String Quartet, the celebrated duo Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita, the Carice Singers, soprano duo Fair Oriana, pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, guitarist Sean Shibe, BBC Young Musician finalist Ben Goldscheider’s new horn trio and the City of London Sinfonia, as well as lunchtime concerts featuring young musicians from the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Young Artist platform. And on the opening day of the festival, you can join in with the music too with a choral discovery day celebrating the 150th anniversary of both Vaughan Willaims and his Swedish counterpart, Hugo Alfvén.
