A short stroll around the borders of Lane End village through fields and woods passing Lacey’s ‘Bolter End Farm’ whose award-winning farm shop sells a wide range of produce.

Distance: 2 Miles (allow 1 hour).

Start: Lane End car park, High Street, Lane End HP14 3ER.

Access Information: An easy stile-free walk along good though sometimes muddy paths. Seven gates.

Refreshments: The Grouse & Ale pub in Lane End and Lacey’s Farm Shop, Bolter End Farm.

Route:

1 From the rear of the car park, walk straight down the common to Bullocks Farm Lane. Cross, turn left along the pavement to a path on left just beyond ‘Briar House’.

2 Cross the road and take the path as it drops down through the kissing gate. Keep straight ahead, follow the path round to the left, walk alongside the motorway for 300m and turn left away from it. The path then passes the ‘Don Gresswell’ bench before arriving at the main road.

3 Turn left along the pavement and crossover to the concrete track just before the entrance to Lacey’s Bolter End Farm. Follow the track past ‘Bracken Cottage’ and take the major turning on the left just beyond. Go through the gate, follow the bridleway through 2 further gates and continue straight ahead through Finings Wood until a waymarked fork. Fork left and stay ahead for 150m to the next fork.

4 Fork left again uphill with views on the right towards Little Frieth. Cross 2 bridges and stay ahead through the kissing gate out onto Ditchfield Common.

5 Turn left along the unmade lane past the front of ‘Meakes’ and take the narrow track ahead through the copse. Pass through the gate, the graveyard extension, the next gate and past Holy Trinity church on the right. Follow the unmade lane round to the right, then left past ‘Woodlands’ and straight on to the road and the car park beyond.
