Monks Risborough CE Primary School

Have you ever thought about becoming a Governor at a school in your local community? You may have opportunities at work to have time for volunteering, or you may want to use your skills in another environment.

My motivation to become a school governor was to be able to give something back to the community in which I live. After years of commuting into London for work it has been a rewarding pleasure, and a learning experience in itself, to apply business and education skills to the community at Monks Risborough CE Primary School.

As governors we are all responsible for the strategic direction of the school and provide oversight of the management aspects of the school.  The excellent senior team at the school have the support to then run the school effectively and efficiently for the full benefit of the growth and success of the pupils.

One of our governors recently wrote: ‘Contributing to the school’s success is fulfilling and satisfying, and it is rewarding to apply my professional skills for the benefit of the local community which underscores the collective effort that shapes the future of our children. In essence, my role as a school governor is a fulfilling experience where, as a volunteer, I positively impact the education and well-being of our community’s youngest members. I appreciate the opportunity to serve Monks Risborough CE Primary School and eagerly anticipate the continued growth and success of our students.’

If you can see yourself getting involved and would like to know more, please email Angie Lench (Vice-Chair of the board of Governors at Monks) on alench@monks.org.uk
