BUSABA PUMPKIN GREEN CURRY
September 1, 2025Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care is urging Buckinghamshire residents to support their local hospice nurses with a donation – helping them reach patients and families in their own homes, day or night.
Overnight nurse Millesent describes a typical shift:
“I often go straight from handover to my first visit. Recently, I was called to a lady whose condition had suddenly worsened. Her son was exhausted. I reassured him, settled his mum, and shared tea with him and her husband. They spoke of her life and their 70 years together. That laughter and relief – it’s part of what we leave behind.”
She adds: “If you’re there at the end, that’s one of the last memories a family will carry. With this appeal, we’re asking people to donate – so we can continue being there when needed most.”
Elaine’s husband, Clive, was cared for by the team.
“Clive’s last wish was to die at home. The nurses were there – even at 3am – with care and calm. They gave him dignity, and us peace. After he passed, they were our rock. I don’t know how we’d have coped without them.”
With just 14% of funding from statutory sources, the charity relies on local support.
- £15 covers a month’s tax on a Hospice at Home pool car
- £36 funds an hour of nursing care
- £41 enables a nurse like Millesent to visit a patient at home
Please donate today to help keep hospice nurses on the road.
