Gardening Through a Hosepipe Ban – Mimosa Garden Design
September 1, 2026If you’re looking for a great day out this September, few events combine history, excitement and family entertainment quite like the Kop Hill Climb Festival, returning to Princes Risborough on 12 and 13 September.
What began as one of Britain’s most famous hill climbs over a century ago has evolved into one of Buckinghamshire’s most popular annual events. Since its revival in 2009, the volunteer-run festival has raised more than £1.3 million for local charities and community projects, making every ticket sold a contribution to good causes across the region.
The famous hill provides the backdrop for more than 400 demonstration runs each day, featuring an extraordinary mix of vehicles. Visitors can expect everything from Edwardian pioneers and vintage motorcycles to cherished classics, iconic sports cars, modern performance machines and exotic supercars. The paddock is equally fascinating, with owners happy to share the stories behind their vehicles and clubs from across the country displaying automotive treasures.
But there’s far more to Kop Hill than motoring. Families can enjoy live entertainment, children’s activities, a bustling shopping village and an excellent choice of food and drink throughout the weekend. Whether you’re spending a few hours or making a full day of it, there’s plenty to see and do.
The festival also looks to the future. Its popular Soapbox Challenge encourages young people aged 8–16 to design, build and race their own gravity-powered vehicles, while the Kop Hill Charity’s STEM bursary programme supports aspiring engineers and innovators.
For the best view of the action, grandstand seating offers a spectacular vantage point as vehicles climb the historic course that once attracted legendary names such as Malcolm Campbell and Raymond Mays.
Whether you’re a lifelong motoring enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable family day out in the Chilterns, Kop Hill Climb Festival offers a unique blend of heritage, community spirit and entertainment.
Kop Hill Climb Festival takes place on 12–13 September 2026 at Kop Hill Road, Princes Risborough. Advance tickets and full event details are available at www.kophillclimb.org.uk.
