May 6, 2026Long Crendon Bowls Club is affiliated to the Buckinghamshire Bowls Association (BBA) and Bowls England (BE). The Green is located between the Recreation Ground and the Baptist Church in Long Crendon and can be accessed from either the Chearsley Road or the High Street. It is highly regarded, allowing the hosting of County matches. There are six rinks, which can be stretched to seven when occasion demands.
The Club was founded in 1921, and the facilities include a Clubhouse, a licensed bar and catering facilities. A separate Men’s Changing Pavilion is situated at the opposite end of the Green by the tennis courts.
The club celebrated its Centenary in 2021 and were pleased to announce that the whole of the interior of the clubhouse had been refurbished, thanks to a grant from FCC Communities Foundation. This has provided a real boost to the club and benefits local community groups in the Long Crendon area should they need to hire a large function room. For more information about hiring the facility, email bookings_lcbc@yahoo.com
The interior improvements now enable the club to play Short Mat Indoor Bowls, and the winter seasons have been highly successful. The club enter a team in the Bucks Single Mat League each year.
Other recent improvements include the removal of the hedge and the fitting a much-needed new fence between the Green and the adjoining recreation ground allowing spectator seating on all 4 sides.
The outdoor season runs from the end of April until the end of September. There are friendly matches against other clubs most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. There are also fun ‘Roll-ups’ on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and some social evenings on Fridays. Club competitions are held during the season, culminating with a Finals Day in August. The club enters County League and Cup competitions, which run throughout the summer season.
The club Membership year starts at the end of March and covers all skill levels and ages, ranging from beginners to more experienced players. The club are always pleased to welcome new Members at any time of the year, at whatever skill or age level.
Members often come and watch matches in the summer, sitting around the Green at one of several seating areas, whilst enjoying something from the bar on warmer days. If you are passing and can see activity on the Green, why not pop in and find out more or if you are interested in learning more about the Club, please e-mail us from our Contact Us page. www.longcrendonbowlsclub.co.uk Alternately you can email the Club Secretary Kevin Bridges at sec_lcbc@aol.com for more information.
