Stokenchurch Dog Rescue

My name is Sam; I’m a Border Collie Type and about 3 years old.

I found myself in the care of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue via the pound as an unclaimed stray. I have settled in well since my arrival and I’m always pleased to see my handlers. I love playing with toys and I’m motivated by them, so alongside treats, toys can be used as a reward for my good behaviour when training me.

I have had some previous training and I currently know ‘sit’ and ‘down’.  Being the intelligent Collie that I am, it’s important that I’m encouraged to use my brain and be kept mentally stimulated.  I would enjoy further training and will pick up new commands/tricks very quickly and this would also build a bond between me and my new owner.

I’m very active and looking for a home with people who are experienced with the breed and can get the best out of me as I have lots of potential.  Once I’ve had some further basic training, I would enjoy doing extra activities such as agility, flyball, hoopers, canicross/bikejor or even scent work.

I walk surprisingly well on the lead and will follow your direction.  I don’t pull if there is something of interest and I remain calm when being gently restrained and when having my harness put on.

I’m not a fan of other dogs and will be looking for a home where there are no other dogs.  I may benefit from some reactive classes once I have settled into my new home.

In a Collie experienced home, Sam will make a fabulous addition.

Can you offer this lovely young boy a loving and permanent new home?
