Hello! My name is Handsome Huey!

I’m about 2 years old and am a medium sized Lurcher Type and I arrived in the care of SDR through no fault of my own. I’m a young and lively boy and I’m looking for owners who have owned a dog previously. I’m not good with cats but I may ok with other dogs and children should be 12 years or over. I appear not to have had any previous training and will benefit from attending training classes.  I will also need some further socialisation around others as I find other dogs scary, so I hide behind my handler looking for reassurance.

If I’m in an environment that I’m used to I’m responsive when you call me; take me to a new environment and I understandably become distracted and wander off to explore. I’m highly excitable when greeting people and I have a habit of jumping up when saying hello. This is being managed by rewarding my good behaviour when greeting people. I am getting better, but owners will need to continue this in the home. I will need a good sized garden so that I can let off some steam and partake in Lurcher zoomies.  I’m not a ‘lazy lurcher’ and will benefit from living with active people who can continue my training and socialisation. In the right home, with some further training, exercise and stimulation, I will make a wonderful companion.
