Meeting outside? Time for a picnic

This month’s recipe offers a versatile snack, or a tasty part of a quick meal.

It is the perfect recipe for a picnic, sandwich filling, jacket potato topping, or dip, and is full of protein and nutrition.

Free from: Milk, egg, soya, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, gluten

Contains: sesame

Vegetarian and Vegan


This has to be the simplest recipe ever – with the least washing up!

Serves 6


400g/1 tin chick peas

4 cloves garlic

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)

Juice of 2 lemons

Salt & black pepper

1 avocado – optional

1 cooked beetroot – optional


  1. Blend all ingredients together
  2. Serve!



Add beetroot and/or an avocado

Try adding red pepper, chilli, herbs or other flavours
